Soda firing is an atmospheric firing technique where Sodium Bi Carbonate and Sodium Carbonate are added into the kiln when it’s at its peak firing temperature. The extreme temperature causes the soda to vaporize, creating its own glaze, which is then carried on the flame throughout the kiln.
In this firing, the sodium was introduced after about 2 days of continuous firing, with the kiln temperatures reaching well over 2000°F. the kiln was then left to cool for another 2 days.
All pieces are hand made and one of a kind with artist signature. All measurements on pottery are approximate.
Even though bud vases are glazed inside, condensation at the base is still possible, so it is recommend to use with dried flowers or exercise caution when using on surfaces that can be damaged by water.
